"The Christian must discover in contemplation, and in the giving of his life, those symbolic actions which will ignite the people's faith to resist injustice with their whole lives, lives coming together as a united force of truth and thus releasing the liberating power of the God within them." - James Douglass, Contemplation and Resistance.

Dies Irae and Marla Ruzicka

In the end perhaps that part of our heart that lives in God will be given a crystal clear vision of our lives and we will render judgement on ourselves and that judgement will be binding. All those who had to die and suffer because of our neglect, because we chose to let the days run on in distraction, our lips firmly wrapped around the nozzle of corporate media, they will hold out their arms to us, but be unable to gather us in just as we were too busy to bother about the war in Iraq. If not for the lives of those such as Marla Ruzicka, who dropped all posturing of the left or right, and died trying to bring help to our "collateral damage", perhaps this judgement would already have come. The hour is late.
